After School Sports
WNS middle school sports teams are a part of the Pacific Basin League, so middle school students have the opportunity to compete with other middle school teams in girls volleyball, flag football, co-ed soccer, girls and boys basketball, girls softball, co-ed golf, boys volleyball, and girls and boys track. The purpose of this league is to offer an educational experience through interscholastic athletics and to promote good standards of sportsmanship and friendly relations among member schools. Our fifth grade teams are now a member of the Coastal Canyon League which has the same purpose and philosophy as the middle school league. The fifth grade students are offered girls basketball, boys basketball, co-ed volleyball, and track.
WNS's After-School Sports Program philosophy is to promote teamwork and cooperation, not only among team members but also with opposing schools and teams. Requirements for the students to be on the team are to commit to be present at all practices and games, unless excused by Mrs. Brewer, our Athletic Director, or the coach. Students learn the lifelong skills of balancing schoolwork with athletics and become more resilient as individuals through the lessons learned by being a member of a sports team. A commitment by the parents is also necessary. Parents are requested to assist with the sports luncheon at the end of the season.
