In a small setting, students will engage in daily literacy and mathematics activities and create a variety of projects around a theme for the summer. This is a great time for your developmental kindergartener to be introduced to WNS – the people, the campus and routines. Most of all, students will come away with a level of comfort and confidence before school begins in September. Specialist classes offered by Kinetic Heads will also excite students’ interests in creative arts.
Kindergarten
Kindergarteners experience life in a big school – on a small scale. Through the study of a theme, students will explore science and social studies concepts while benefiting from exposure to literacy and mathematics activities. The summer program is a time for students to feel comfortable in their school with their new teachers and friends, learn routines and procedures, and have fun learning. Specialist classes offered by Kinetic Heads will also excite students’ interests in creative arts.
First Grade
This program allows incoming first graders an opportunity to become familiar with new routines and develop problem-solving strategies for independent learning. The first grade summer curriculum at WNS will revolve around the exploration of a theme. Students will experience math explorations, classroom meetings and reading groups. This is an excellent opportunity for children to maintain previously learned skills and concepts in a format that blends academics and fun. Specialist classes offered by Kinetic Heads will also excite students’ interests in creative arts.
Specialist Classes – Kinetic Heads
Kinetic Heads is an environment where children will expand their creative side by learning to use the originality of their own imagination, as well as how to apply it to aspects of their lives. The confidence self-expression brings will stay with students as they grow to become independent, freethinking adults. The program, while practicing performing and fine arts, carries a core of “kinetic” thought. We introduce your child to a combination of creative experiences, including sculpture, painting, improvisation and theater.
