Summer 2010 is almost here, and we are very excited to offer you a NEW, IMPROVED and completely REVAMPED WNS Summer Program! Our summer program includes several components that will provide a combination of opportunities for academic growth, enrichment and fun!

Summer Session 1: June 28th – July 16th
Summer Session 2: July 19th – August 6th
* Independence Day will be observed on Monday, July 5th

Summer School
The brain-learning research shows that students who engage in academic work in their core subjects (reading, writing and mathematics) during the summer retain more of what they learn moving from one year to the next. Summer School classes will be offered for 6 full weeks in two 3-week sessions for DK-Middle School students. This improved format will allow families the flexibility to plan other activities around the summer program schedule, while still maintaining the option of six-week participation if desired. Both sessions will offer from 8:45-12 noon a full slate of academically enriching classes in all subject areas, and important transition classes for our DK, K, and 1st grade students and students who will be new to our Middle School.

We have enhanced our Summer School program for our middle school students this year with the opportunity for incoming 6th, 7th, and 8th graders to participate in three one-hour long electives per day, providing core skill reinforcement in mathematics, language arts, Spanish, and art. With study skills being tied into each course, our new model will provide incoming 6th graders with a realistic view of what middle school is like at WNS, and provide returning students with the core keys to success as a middle schooler. Students may join us for either or both three-week sessions.

Camp WNS
If it is possible to have too much fun, this may be it! We will be launching a completely new and revamped Camp WNS experience for DK-8th grade students that will include a rotation of experiences in sports, science, dance, and the arts, as well as crazy fun days and weekly field trips for our 2nd-8th grade students. Camp WNS will run every afternoon (12:00-4:00pm) during our 6-week summer school session and from 8:45am-4:00pm for the first three weeks of August following our summer program. And for the first time, middle school students are invited to stay through the afternoon and participate in Camp WNS for teens!

This summer’s addition of “Camp WNS” will give students the opportunity to participate in a variety of fun, hands-on activities while still leaving the option open for a noon dismissal if desired. Camp WNS will begin at noon with a lunch either brought from home or provided by our hot lunch program. After lunch, all campers will come together for the daily assembly where we will hear important announcements, share experiences, sing camp songs, reflect on what we’ve learned, and get ready for an awesome day at camp!

Extended Care - Morning and Afternoon
  • Early morning care for those students arriving as early as 7:45 am.
  • Morning Keyboarding Lab for those students entering 4th grade and up. Keyboarding Lab provides typing practice and skill reinforcement for students from 7:45-8:45 am daily. Registration is required.
  • Afternoon care for those students staying after the 4:00 pm dismissal and as late as 5:30 pm.
Come enjoy summertime at WNS!
