Denise Pope - May 3, 2010

WNS is co-hosting Denise Pope’s presentation, “How We are Creating a Generation of Stressed Out, Materialistic, and Miseducated Students” with The John Thomas Dye School at WNS on Monday, May 3. She will teach a faculty in-service for both schools followed by a parent presentation from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm in the WNS multipurpose room.

Dr. Pope is the co-founder of Challenge Success, senior lecturer at Stanford University and national speaker on the subject of reducing unhealthy pressure on youth and broadening our vision of children’s success. Dr. Pope is the author of Doing School: How We are Creating a Generation of Stressed Out, Materialistic, and Miseducated Students and a contributor to the new film “Race to Nowhere,” a documentary about the impact of education on children today. Dr. Pope lectures nationally on parenting techniques and pedagogical strategies to increase student health, engagement with learning and integrity.
